Illustrator Anke Kuhl studied drawing in Mainz and Offenbach and has been working at the Frankfurt-based communal studio Labor since 1998. She won the German Youth Literature Award in 2011 for her book Alles Familie! Her comic book Manno! Alles genau so in echt passiert (2020) also received multiple awards, including the Max und Moritz Prize. Kuhl has collaborated with author Katharina von der Gathen on several educational books, primarily focusing on sex education. Their latest work, however, takes a humorous approach to introducing children to the topics of death and dying. Radieschen von unten (2023) was nominated for the German Youth Literature Award and selected for the 2024 White Ravens list. The Czech translation by Kateřina Klabanová is published by Cesta domů.
